Trolleys

For easy attachment of hoists and for ease of movement, Chester offers a wide range of plain and geared manually operated trolleys. Primary models feature lifetime lubricated ball bearings to assure minimal effort is needed for positioning. Additional models feature embossed steel side plates, providing a high strength to weight ratio. These side plates are of warp-around design providing a full face bumper.

  • Lifetime lubricated precision ball bearings, in 1/4 through 3 ton capacity trolleys, assure a minimum of manual effort and also of maintenance.

  • In the 4 ton through 25 ton capacities, each trolley is equipped with eight duo-sealed Timken tapered roller bearings that absorb the radial and thrust loads exerted in these heavier sizes, and reduce manual effort and maintenance to a minimum.

  • Heavy rolled steel sideplates are shaped to give these trolley units stability and rigidity. They extend beyond the wheels to act as bumpers. Steel equalizing pins connect the two halves of each trolley, providing load equalization and smooth operation.

  • Trolley wheels are long wearing alloy cast iron. Wheel treads are machined to provide smoothest possible rolling motion. Steel axles are rigidly supported in the side frame. Steel trolley blocks reinforce the side plates as well as the equalizing pin.

30, 40, & 50 Ton Trolleys are available as Tandem Construction. Consult factory.
Wheels with convex treads are standard on all capacities 1/4 through 20 ton.

* All references to I-Beam sizes and corresponding flange widths are for clearance dimensions only.
The user must determine the proper strength of I-Beam and flange for the load.
** Specify curve on order. Wheels are modified to negotiate curve.

  • Chester, Model PS Trolleys combined with our hook type hoists, provide an economical means of transporting loads.

  • Frames: Design embossed steel sideplates on the 1/4 through 2-ton models provide a high strength to weight ratio. Sideplates are of warp-around design providing a full face bumper as well as a protective lug which will prevent the trolley from falling off I-beam in event of inadvertent wheel axle failure. The 3-ton trolley sideplate frames are thick rolled steel sections with added bumpers.

  • Wheels: High-quality pressed steel wheels, carbonized and hardened to ensure long life, are offered on the standard trolleys. The wheels have built-in ball bearings to provide smooth easy rolling action and compound tread design to make them suitable for operation on wide flange beams as well as American Standard I-beam tapered flange beams. Deep flanges help prevent wheels from climbing up onto the track. Pressure lubrication fittings in the axles allow easy lubrication.

  • Cross Pin: The cross pin connects the sideplates and provides equalized wheel loads. It has a center located hook saddle groove designed for mounting hook suspended hoists permitting the closest possible headroom. For hoists which will not hook over the cross pin a pear-shaped ring is supplied. Each trolley is easily adjustable to fit several sizes of beams by simply shifting cross pin spacer washers from inside to outside of trolley sideplate.
